I have waited for a couple of weeks before I would start blogging about my New Years Resolution – Bucket List. You probably got tired of hearing or reading about everyone’s new year’s resolutions – like me. Actually, I don’t do New Year’s resolutions – never did and never will. I rather talk about the things I hope to accomplish for the next year. And when I am reflecting on the past year I think about the things I did not accomplish and how I can accomplish them for the next year (If it’s still something I am interested in). So I called in the bucket list – it’s a list of my goals and dreams that I have for this new year 2018. Creating a bucket list is an inspiring way to show more and bring more pleasure to your life: a dream-goals-list that will change your life. So here goes!

 

1. Organize your life.

My life is pretty well organized. But it doesn’t hurt to re-examine in how to improve or how to become better in organizing my life. This year will be the year I am moving into a new house which is super exciting – the most exciting part is that I will be able to decorate as I see fit, something I have not been able to do for a couple of years due to the digital nomad lifestyle I was living. So yeah…. I know this one is quite broad and for everyone different to apply in your life. But I think whatever it is that needs to be organized in your life. I think this is the year to do it!

2. Put at least two new stamps on your passport.

This does not come as a surprise – I am never not travelling ;)! There are so many places I want to visit. And on top of that, I also want to see my friends who mostly live abroad. But Panama is on the list for this year as is Japan and both places I have not been before.

 

3. Make two new contacts for your DREAM career.

Whenever I create my bucket list for the new year, there is always a bullet point describing what my goals are for my career. Most of the times it’s about learning a new skill as I love to learn new things and put them into practice. However this year it will be about me networking more. Whether I am networking for the blog or from my career in Online Marketing I want to make at least 2 new valuable contacts. It will be an effort to grow, learn and collaborate at the same time. Something I think my future self will be very thankful for!

 

4. Do some volunteers work or donate…

From the past couple of years, I have been doing volunteers work. I would write a piece for a gallery or create the social media strategy for a museum. Or I would help out in my church. Whatever it is that I am doing it is my way of giving something back. Putting my skills and knowledge to good use is something that gives me all the feels. Being able to help someone and not asking anything for it makes me extremely blessed and grateful. Doing something for someone else is already a blessing on its own. So for this year, it’s on the list again. If you are thinking about doing some volunteers work and your not sure where to start. I would suggest to Google and find your local volunteer bank. But feel free to comment below or message me – and we get things sorted.

5. Read three new books by the time summer hits — in three different categories.

I put this on my list so I want to finish three books by summer in different categories. One career-related or wellness book, one classic book and one novel. Currently, I’m reading Swing Time by Zadie Smith and I have yet to finish this book called Pachinko by Min Jin Lee from my last trip to Vietnam. What should I read next?

6. Improving your health (no matter what that means for you).

From next week on I will start training for a half marathon here in The Netherlands. It’s a great way to stay in shape, fit and to be healthy. You have to eat properly and you have to train your body – making it strong to run the half marathon. There is no doubt about that. Training and eating well (read healthy) go hand in hand. SO whatever it is that you aren’t doing for your body, now’s the time to start — one small change will lead to more, and your body will thank you for it!

 

7. Save more money than you did last year or the year before that 😉

This goal returns every year on the bucket list. I mostly save my money to travel to wherever I want. The difference with this year is that I will use an App. I downloaded the app called Mint which will help me to keep my expenses in tone. To reduce my expenses I found out that I have to make my coffee at home  – goodbye Starbucks :(.  
But I know once I am on the road to visit another country I will be so happy. So it’s a small sacrifice ;).

 

8. Gain a new skill.

I loooooove to learn new skills. And it doesn’t matter what it is as long as I have not done it before it’s worth the try right?! So last year, December I got my certificate in learning Spanish for beginners and this year I will continue to the next level of learning Spanish. I have also decided to enrol myself in boxing once a week. But I am always open to any other suggestions 🙂
