Many dream of starting their own company someday, and it’s an amazing accomplishment to do just that. Ashley DeLuca is a digital marketing and web strategist who is all about giving female entrepreneurs the ability to rise with the power of web strategy and bloom with an individualized design. We interviewed Ashley to talk about her super cool business and her unbreakable passion.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS. WHAT ARE YOU DOING EXACTLY?

I’m a digital marketing and web strategist who empowers female entrepreneurs through the power of web design and a foolproof strategy. I truly want to see you rise as an entrepreneur and bloom into your full potential. I am all about giving female entrepreneurs the ability to rise with the power of web strategy and bloom with individualized design. My clients and I go on a journey together as I take them from feeling lost in the world of technology to being grounded with a professional website. It is a transformation as they uplevel their web presence, establish authority, and develop their own spot on the internet to call their own.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR BUSINESS IDEA?

I have been doing Digital Marketing and Design for over 8 years now. To turn my passion into a business was a seamless transfer as I went from doing it locally to internationally. I had started when I was 14 years old with my first drag and drop website. From there, I was able to move forward with books from my local library as I learned HTML, CSS, and WordPress. It was a journey that I had no idea at the time would lead to a business.

WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE THIS, AND IS THIS YOUR FIRST BUSINESS?

Before I mainly blogged for myself and did small design work locally. I opened my first business in 2016 as Blank Slate Media Consulting which focused on helping small businesses have groundbreaking websites. I defined my mission, services, and who I was by taking The Minion Queen’s Fairy Training. From that point forward, I branded myself for my business.

WHAT SPECIFIC ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE FOR YOUNG WOMEN WHO WOULD LIKE TO BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR?

I would say the most important item to remember is that not everyone is going to see your dream at first. You have to hold it in your heart and know that everything will work out in the long run. It is going to be a lot of work, but I promise it will be worth it in the end. If you have a dream, you have the ability to make it a reality.

MY GREATEST OBSTACLE AND HOW I DEALT WITH IT:

My greatest obstacle would be handling clients who do not click well. I’m a huge people pleaser and at this point, I would rather lose a night of sleep to help out a client last minute. However, I learned to input boundaries. With my working hours, how long it takes me to respond to emails, and furthermore how long it takes me to do anything within my business. Implementing this have proven invaluable for me especially with my health.

MY PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT:

I’m extremely proud of myself and my business overall. When I first started out, I had no idea what an opt-in was. Now I have a whole resource library of them. I have come a long way and have built an incredible amount of relationships which have served me well over the last two years.

HOW I BLEND LIFE AND WORK TO CREATE THE LIFE I WANT:

By setting boundaries and clear expectations, I can have a safe work/life flow. Instead of being a slave to my work and staying up every single night, I take rest when I need it. By doing this, I have found my stress has gone down and have been able to focus on my clients in a whole new light. Speaking of clients, when they sign on with me, they sign stating they understand I put my health first when it comes to doing last minute requests.

I AM INSPIRED BY:

Jenna Kutcher and her entire brand…hands down. I’m a huge fan and she inspires me to live a better life that is full of purpose.

WHY I CHOSE THIS CAREER:

It comes down to one item: Freedom. For myself, it is extremely important for myself to have freedom in my life and within my business. I want to live a life full of purpose while also focusing on adventure and balance.

HOW I PREPARE FOR SUCCESS:

Plan. Plan. Plan. Plan. I learned this from my current mentor, Danielle Ralston. Who is a huge believer in always planning your plan. I love Asana and I really enjoy being able to assign certain tasks each and every day that helps me accomplish my monthly goals.

DID YOU WRITE A BUSINESS PLAN? WAS IT AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR YOU?

I did not write a business plan as it did not really meet my vision or really make my business come alive. However,  I do write out enough goals to be able to outline my business and make my mission come alive.

ARE THERE SPECIFIC ADVANTAGES, DISADVANTAGES TO BEING A WOMEN BUSINESS OWNER?

Disadvantages? Heck no. Advantages? Plenty. My favourite? We have it built in us to have a drive to make things happen. And boy, do we with our businesses!

MY FAVOURITE BUSINESS TOOL IS…

For sure Dubsado. This was my first purchase and one I will never regret. It has helped me streamline my business process to a whole new level.

THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN IS…

You can accomplish anything you put your mind to. Jenna Kutcher once told me to stop letting everyone else make goals and crushing them. I need to stick my foot into the water and start crushing them myself. Because I can.
