Interview With Taran Ghatrora

Female Entrepreneurs l Paperbeau

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS. WHAT ARE YOU DOING EXACTLY?

Ellebox helps girls navigate the transition to womanhood, through education, empowerment and monthly e-commerce kits. We provide safe, sustainable products (starting with organic cotton tampons) for women and girls who believe in the power of their choices!

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR BUSINESS IDEA?

I was in law school in the UK (as an international student with no car) and puzzled at the fact that I could have everything delivered to my door, on subscription (ex. snacks and razors), except tampons and pads. For something that is a monthly need, not a want, I thought this was rather inconvenient and chalked it up the fact that periods are stigmatized and not talked about often. Shortly after, my sister who is also my co-founder was diagnosed with PCOS and that made us extremely passionate about the organic and natural aspect of our products.

WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE THIS, AND IS THIS YOUR FIRST BUSINESS?

I worked in family law and had dreams of becoming a human rights lawyer. My first business was a cake decorating company!

WHAT SPECIFIC ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE FOR YOUNG WOMEN WHO WOULD LIKE TO BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR?

Aim to provide solutions to problems, rather than products.
