TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS. WHAT ARE YOU DOING EXACTLY?

My current business is Coaching. I am a health and lifestyle coach and I work with divorced women over 50 to rebuild their confidence, self-esteem, feel healthy and beautiful!  Right now, I am at the very beginning of my business. I am mostly helping women obtain healthy habits by starting a healthy plan I myself completed and was successful. I am also becoming visible to the online world as an attempt to market my business in a way that my ideal client can find me!

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR BUSINESS IDEA?

I started a health plan with a couple of co-workers and friends for the reason that I wanted to feel better.   It had been a year that my divorce was finalized, I was on my own and getting my finances in order as well as wanting to feel and be more attractive.  I decided to obtain my certification as a health coach and life coach. During this process, I learned that getting divorced is not easy regardless if it is mutual and amicable (as mine was).  There is a lot more that happens during a marriage and when it’s gone, it’s an awakening for some and terrifying for others. I saw my divorce as an awakening… and discovered I thrived to have the life of my dreams and wanted to show other women in the same situation the same results and feeling.

WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE THIS, AND IS THIS YOUR FIRST BUSINESS?

I was and still am in the fashion industry (Manhattan, NY) and work with Designers to develop ready products for mass production.  You can call this my first business. My ex-husband and I owned a Martial Arts Taekwondo School while I was married but cannot compare with building my own coaching practice.

WHAT SPECIFIC ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE FOR YOUNG WOMEN WHO WOULD LIKE TO BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR?

My advice would be to NOT LOOK BACK AND DON’T QUIT no matter how hard it gets.  I encourage entrepreneurship for young women so that they can use their passion to succeed not feeling like they worked a day in their lives!  If someone is passionate about something, don’t let anyone or anything stop you. Listen to opinions but make your own decision… only you know your situation and what you want to achieve.  Get help, build a small team to help you get where you want to go…. Own the car, drive it and let some passengers in to prevent you from getting lost!

MY GREATEST OBSTACLE AND HOW I DEALT WITH IT:

My greatest obstacle has been TIME.  I have a 13 hr day in the fashion world door to door which does not leave much time for my coaching… I make a list of everything I need to accomplish each week.  Then I pick the top 3 most important things I need to finish and focus on the TOP #1 PRIORITY. I block schedule myself to accomplish this #1 priority not forgetting to schedule time for my personal matters and myself realizing that how much time it takes for me to accomplish a priority, it is the correct time thus seeing results.

 MY PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT:

My coaching certifications.  Facing my biggest obstacle, I was able to complete my certifications within the time allowed and followed thru all requirements to graduate and certify.

HOW I BLEND LIFE AND WORK TO CREATE THE LIFE I WANT…

Lifestyle is my business.  Guiding someone to build the lifestyle of their dreams is my job… in order to do that, I must show that I am building the lifestyle of my dreams.  My coaching sessions are late in the evenings when I am relaxing and my clients are relaxed. I listen. I listen to my clients and experience what they are going thru and what they want to accomplish…

I AM INSPIRED BY:

I am inspired by RESULTS.  Seeing my clients achieve their goals, become healthier and confident.

WHY I CHOSE THIS CAREER:

The biggest reason, seeing someone happy and healthy! I want to help other women find their authenticity.  I want to help women rise in today’s world and become independent… regardless of what age! It’s never too late.

My second reason is having the flexibility of time and working from home.  Being my own boss, making my own rules, having my own discipline… makes me a better person.

HOW I PREPARE FOR SUCCESS…

The most important thing I do is create my vision.  Then I list out my goals to turn that vision into reality.  If need be, attain a support team so that I have the time to carry out my goals.

DID YOU WRITE A BUSINESS PLAN? WAS IT AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR YOU?

No. I did not have a business plan at first but we all need one.  I have made a plan of how many clients I will need on a monthly basis to achieve my monthly salary goal after deducting expenses.

ARE THERE SPECIFIC ADVANTAGES, DISADVANTAGES TO BEING A WOMEN BUSINESS OWNER?

In the coaching business, I believe being a woman is an advantage.  Women have been known to be more attentive and patient and both these attributes are beneficial to a life coach.  I don’t think disadvantages exist for a woman business owner… it is all deception and judgement.

MY FAVOURITE BUSINESS TOOL IS…

Ohh… the infamous INTERNET… soooo powerful!  It could be negative or positive in a business.  Learning how to use this powerful tool is a great advantage and could be one of the biggest profitable tools.

THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN IS…

CREATE A VISION for your life and your business.  BELIEVE in yourself. Align and accept your mistakes, learning from them and turning them into successes.  MOST OF ALL, be yourself. Don’t be afraid to express yourself and do what your heart and your gut are telling you to do. This is advice that has been given to me and I, in turn, would love to give to everyone that is entertaining the thought of doing something different in their lives!
