I am the CEO of Channel U LLC, a best-selling author, certified life coach, and motivational speaker. My mission is to empower and inspire women to reconnect with themselves to channel their passions and creative energy to achieve success.
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR BUSINESS IDEA?
I had an “Oprah ah-ha moment” where I went on a journey of self-discovery by putting God first, learning to love myself, and not giving up on my dreams. In a conversation with my nephew, Codey Young, he suggested that I become a certified life coach since people were always reaching out to me for help, and I would post inspirational content on social media daily to encourage anyone who may need it.
WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE THIS, AND IS THIS YOUR FIRST BUSINESS?
I currently work at Children’s Healthcare as a Clinical Operations Coordinator. This is not my first business. I previously owned a Wedding and Event Planning Company for 12 years.
“I enjoy helping women achieve their goals and dreams; seeing the transformation in the women from beginning to end, and knowing the end is always a happy and positive result with the women achieving success.”

ARE THERE SPECIFIC ADVANTAGES, DISADVANTAGES TO BEING A WOMEN BUSINESS OWNER?
For me becoming certified as a life coach and collaborating with other women has been a great advantage. Some of the disadvantages of being a business owner is learning to balance professional and family responsibilities, financial barriers for starting a business, lack of confidence, and self-doubt to compete in the business market.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BUSINESS TOOL?
My favourite business tool is Asana. It helps me manage and organize all of my client’s to-dos and projects.
THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I HAVE EVEN BEEN GIVEN IS:
(From Anissa Reid, friend and colleague): Never give up. Your gift is making room for you. Keep encouraging, keep sharing simple truths. There are people in this world who need it. I know it has helped me on my way, journey with God. For some it will be news you’ll be planting a seed, for others it will be confirmation you’ll be watering a seed already planted, and even some others it will be breakthrough reaping the rewards of what you didn’t labour. Keep being a light and letting God use you in every capacity.
