Interview with Elena Tsysaruk

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS. WHAT ARE YOU DOING EXACTLY?

I run an online service-based business helping female entrepreneurs to create their successful online business identities! Create & Elate is a boutique branding, web design, and video editing virtual studio that is here to empower women and craft their business dreams!

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR BUSINESS IDEA?

I came up with my business idea when I consistently saw ambitious women inundated by fear and limiting beliefs that are stopping them from the success, impact, flexibility, and freedom they desire and deserve so much. I decided to dedicate myself to help aspiring female entrepreneurs from all around the world by creating enchanting brand visuals, stunning website designs and engaging videos that they would be proud of!

WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE THIS, AND IS THIS YOUR FIRST BUSINESS?

Create & Elate is my first business. Before I started my business, I had been in the corporate world for around 3 years.

WHAT SPECIFIC ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE FOR YOUNG WOMEN WHO WOULD LIKE TO BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR?

Being a female entrepreneur is an inspiring and challenging thing. My advice would be to not feel afraid of the unknown and just go for their dreams! Find your passion and base your ideas on something you truly love and believe in. In this way, you’ll be more focused and motivated to achieve your goals!

MY GREATEST OBSTACLE AND HOW DID YOU DEALT WITH IT:

Every day is a challenge and that’s the best thing about running a business. When I just started my business, I was worried about what will happen if I don’t find clients. Making people believe in your services is one of the main difficulties many business startups face. I overcame my fears by focusing my efforts on providing value through my blog posts, engaging more and more with people on social media as well as marketing my business, which later brought in more clients than I could have dreamed of!

MY PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT:

My proudest accomplishment is becoming a business owner and starting everything from scratch. In 2018 I started my own blog about beauty and lifestyle. This experience helped me to realize how much I actually enjoy designing websites portraying a strong message and presence. This, combined with my passion to support other female business owners, encouraged me to start my own journey.

HOW I BLEND LIFE AND WORK TO CREATE THE LIFE I WANT:

Running my own business made my work and personal life to intertwine a lot more. Utilizing my calendar is honestly everything…I make sure to schedule time for myself, my family and friends the same way I schedule a time for work. My advice would be to become proactive with the things you listed that are important to happen in your life so that you can feel that you have more balance.

I AM INSPIRED BY:

I find inspiration in many places and spaces…While I find inspiration in Pinterest and other social media platforms, sometimes I’m most inspired by stepping away from my laptop. Travelling, talking with people, being outside and moving my body gets my creative juices flowing!

WHY I CHOSE THIS CAREER:

There are various opportunities available for branding and web designers as well as for video editors as the strong online presence is a must in this competitive world. This field gives me the opportunity to constantly learn new things and to put my imaginative shoes on. I can create and develop beautiful websites and videos using various tools and resources available to satisfy my clients. Also, the Internet is everywhere and my laptop is portable – all I need to work from everywhere!

HOW I PREPARE FOR SUCCESS:

One of the most important things you need as a solo business owner is to make sure that you streamline your processes and have systems in place that allow you to save your energy and spend more time actually working on your business. Having systems in place is not only helpful for you, but it also goes a long way to project your professionalism to the client.

DID YOU WRITE A BUSINESS PLAN? WAS IT AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR YOU?

A structured business plan is an important part of setting up your business, but not the whole picture. I didn’t write a 50-page long business plan, but I definitely had an estimation of how I’m planning to make money and what my expenses are going to be. Writing a business plan provides guidance for every aspect of your business, helps you to clear your thoughts and make better decisions. I think it’s an effective tool if you don’t overcomplicate it and keep it short enough so you can actually come back to it later and re-read it.

ARE THERE SPECIFIC ADVANTAGES, DISADVANTAGES TO BEING A WOMEN BUSINESS OWNER?

There has never been a better time for women to start their own businesses. I think that women have an edge over their male entrepreneur peers when it comes to collaboration, emotional intelligence, and social networking.
