DEFINE A GREAT LEADER – WHAT ARE SOME TRAITS YOU THINK GREAT LEADERS POSSESS?
A great leader is someone who can not only inspire people but also motivate and even more importantly activate other people. Great leaders have the ability to communicate in a way that resonates well. I think that great leaders should be kind, humble and honest.
WHAT ARE SOME STRATEGIES THAT CAN HELP WOMEN ACHIEVE A MORE PROMINENT ROLE IN THEIR ORGANIZATIONS?
Be the best you can be at what you do
Ask for that raise/job/promotion you deserve
Network across the entire organization -top and bottom-, don’t stick to just knowing your team
Be brave when you run into new things (step up for the job nobody wants for example)
Never stop learning
Always enjoy what you do, and stay true to yourself
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR WOMEN AIMING FOR LEADERSHIP POSITIONS?
Try to be fearless. Don’t be afraid to fail – women tend to want to succeed and do things well, are afraid of failure. Therefore, often making safe choices. It’s okay to be bold and take that plunge in the deep. If you fail, you will learn from it. If you succeed, your confidence will grow. Either way, you will gain new experience and will be able to reach newer heights.
WHAT’S ONE-KEY LEADERSHIP LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED ALONG THE WAY?
Trust the people around you on their expertise. Micromanaging will only cause more work and stress for yourself.
