TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS. WHAT ARE YOU DOING EXACTLY?

I’m a hairstylist and salon owner. I am specialized in black hair.
As a hairstylist, I focus mainly on hair extension, wigs and braids.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR BUSINESS IDEA?

Doing hair has always been my passion, I started mainly doing family and friends for free. Until my friends suggested doing it for more people and opening a social media page for more exposure. And from there it started to grow into a full-time business.

Before this business, I was working at an office as a secretary for four years. It was so boring I’m far more of a people person and with my business, I get to work with a lot of people and I can get far more creative as I would be in an office.

WHAT SPECIFIC ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE FOR YOUNG WOMEN WHO WOULD LIKE TO BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR?

Every young woman should follow her dreams and it shouldn’t matter if other people are doing exactly what you would like to do. Don’t let that scare you away from following your dream. Everyone is unique. Keep pushing yourself every day to learn more and don’t tell people your dreams instead show them.

MY GREATEST OBSTACLE AND HOW DID YOU DEALT WITH IT:

Being in the hair and beauty business it is mandatory-you stay updated with all the new trends and master each skill perfectly.

MY PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT:

Many American hair stylists

WHY I CHOSE THIS CAREER:

It’s my passion; making a woman feel beautiful.

HOW I PREPARE FOR SUCCESS:

I focus on the goals I have in front of me and I never forget why I started this business.

DID YOU WRITE A BUSINESS PLAN? WAS IT AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR YOU?

Google and YouTube

ARE THERE SPECIFIC ADVANTAGES, DISADVANTAGES TO BEING A WOMEN BUSINESS OWNER?

I would say one of the advantages is meeting new people. Increasing my network with like-minded people and getting more clients. The disadvantage that comes with being a woman business owner is having a very busy life.

MY FAVOURITE BUSINESS TOOL IS…

Rattail comb and my wax.
